The statute
The statute of the City of Andria, approved by resolution no. 84 of 28 October 2002, names the old and historic centre and the environmental and monumental heritage of Castel del Monte and of the whole territory as the social and cultural roots of the community. Within the municipal territory the statute names the hamlet of Montegrosso. The municipality has its seat in the Palazzo di Città and uses as emblem and banner those historically in use.
Montegrosso
According to the municipality's page, Montegrosso is a small rural hamlet at the foot of the Murge, 10–15 km from the city along the SP 231 towards Canosa di Puglia, closer to Canosa than to central Andria. The village was founded in the early 1930s by the Opera Nazionale Combattenti, with farmhouses for war veterans, and completed in the 1950s by the land-reform agency (Ente Riforma). Today it is home to farming families, with just under 200 permanent residents who increase in summer; it belongs to the Borghi Autentici d'Italia network and is designated a «health village», with events such as the «Walk among the Olive Trees».
