Cost of living in Catanzaro
Among Italy's cheapest regional capitals for housing, with prices at the Lido rising in summer. Cheap restaurants and groceries. The heavy item is the car: the city is spread over three distant, steep nuclei and public transport covers little in the evening. Low-cost AMC pass.

Housing
Catanzaro's OMI quotations are among the lowest of the regional capitals both for rents and for purchases; the historic centre offers large flats at low prices but often in need of renovation, while Catanzaro Lido has a two-speed market, with low annual rents and weekly summer lets that push many owners not to rent long term. Germaneto has student rooms and recent flats at mid-range prices.
Groceries, car, transport
Eating out is cheap: neighbourhood trattorias and pizzerias, fish at the Lido at prices below the nearby resorts. Groceries are average for the South, with local markets for fruit and vegetables. The car is the real cost item: almost every household has one or two, paid parking covers the centre and the Lido in summer. The monthly AMC pass for buses and funicular is cheap, and the funicular ticket is integrated with the bus.
