Health care: ASP Catanzaro, AOU Dulbecco and CUP 0961 789789

ASP, district and GP

Community care is run by the Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale of Catanzaro, with its headquarters at via Vinicio Cortese 25; the city belongs to the Catanzaro socio-health district, which manages GP registration, family counselling centres, home care and out-of-hours posts. You choose or change your GP and paediatrician at the district desks or with the "Scelta e revoca Medico" online service on the ASP website; residents, and foreigners under the specific rules, are entitled to register.

Hospitals

The city's hospitals belong to the Renato Dulbecco university hospital (AOU), organised in two sites: the Pugliese (switchboard 0961 883111) and the Germaneto-Mater Domini site (switchboard 0961 712111), next to the Magna Graecia University campus. The public relations offices of the two sites answer on 0961 883249 (Pugliese) and 0961 3647028 (Germaneto).

Out-of-hours care and 116117

The Catanzaro district lists three out-of-hours posts (continuità assistenziale, former guardia medica) in the city: Catanzaro 1 at via Tommaso Campanella 126 (0961 773413), Catanzaro 2 at via Molise (0961 63146) and Catanzaro Lido at via Crotone 214 (0961 737562). The service covers weekday nights (20:00–8:00), pre-holidays from 10:00 and holidays. On 28 July 2026 the Calabria Region activated 116117, the harmonised European number for non-urgent medical care, free and open around the clock.

Bookings and co-payments

Specialist visits and tests are booked via the regional single number 0961 789 789 (Monday–Friday 9:00–18:00, Saturday 9:00–13:00), at participating pharmacies — where you can also pay the co-payment (ticket) — or online on the Calabria Region's citizen portal. The AOU Dulbecco uses the same number for CUP bookings.
