Housing: student residences and seismic checks
ERSU Messina has residences at Annunziata, Gravitelli and Papardo and places reserved in other buildings; the historic Casa dello Studente in Via Battisti remains closed because it failed seismic-upgrade checks. In a city destroyed in 1908, a building's seismic status is a selection criterion. Quotations in the data block.

- SS. Annunziata residence – Viale G. Palatucci 13 (north, near the Annunziata campus).
- Gravitelli residence – Via P. Castelli 49.
- Papardo residence – Via F. Basile 10 (near the Papardo campus).
- "Mamma Margherita" building – Via del Pozzo 43, with 91 places reserved for ERSU students.
Casa dello Studente and new places
The "Prof. Matteo Bottari" Casa dello Studente, in Via C. Battisti, is not available: its reopening is postponed because the building failed the seismic-upgrade checks needed for certification. ERSU has announced new residences run with Dama Bianca and, for 2026/27, in addition to allocating rooms by ranking, offered further beds to eligible students left without accommodation through a call for expressions of interest.
What to check
The 1908 earthquake struck above all the centre and the coastal strip, and Civil Protection names the quality of buildings and ground among the causes of the collapses. Those renting or buying should ask for the year of construction and any seismic upgrading or improvement work on the building.
