Climate and risks: seismic zone 4, landslides are the main hazard

In the Civil Protection Department's seismic classification (May 2025) Nuoro is in zone 4, the least hazardous. According to the ISPRA IdroGEO indicators (2024 report) 1,897 inhabitants live in areas of high or very high landslide hazard, while 9 inhabitants are recorded in areas of medium flood hazard.

Seismic risk

In the seismic classification of municipalities updated in May 2025 by the Civil Protection Department, Nuoro is in zone 4, the least hazardous, where according to the Department "the probability of an earthquake is very low".

Landslides and floods

The ISPRA IdroGEO municipal sheet, based on the 2024 ISPRA report on hydrogeological instability, counts 1,897 inhabitants, over 5% of the population, in areas of high or very high landslide hazard (P3 and P4): anyone looking for a home should check the property's location on the map. In areas of medium flood hazard (scenario P2) the exposed inhabitants number 9.
