Antiquarium Arborense
The portal calls it the city's most important museum. Founded in 1938, it has been housed since 1992 in the nineteenth-century Palazzo Parpaglia, in piazza Giovanni Corrias. It holds archaeological finds from several periods, has a room of altarpieces (including the retablo of San Martino, 15th century, and that of the Santo Cristo, 1533) and two reconstruction models, of Tharros in the 4th century AD and of Oristano in the 14th century. It is among the few Sardinian museums with a section for blind and partially sighted visitors.
Other museums and the sea
The portal also lists the Museo Diocesano Arborense, the Carlo Contini municipal art gallery, the Foro Boario, the Centro di Documentazione e Studio sulla Sartiglia, Terracotta (ceramics documentation centre) and the Municipal Historical Archive. For the sea it points to Torre Grande and the Gulf of Oristano.
