Municipality and documents
Electronic identity card, residence and certificates are booked online on the municipal portal and handled at the central registry office and the branch offices in the larger villages (Ponte San Giovanni, San Sisto, Castel del Piano, Ponte Felcino); with SPID or CIE many certificates are digital. The municipal Informagiovani guides on work, training, volunteering and Erasmus; for non-EU citizens the Sportello Unico per l'Immigrazione is at the Prefettura and the Questura issues permits; the University for Foreigners and associations in the centre offer Italian courses.
Waste and water
GESENU runs waste collection in the municipality: in most of the territory it is door to door, with a zone calendar (organic, paper, plastic and metals, glass, residual) published on the site and in the app; in the historic centre disposal follows evening hours and dedicated islands, and in the villages some services still use bins. Bulky items and appliances go to the collection centres (Ponte Rio, Ponte San Giovanni, Sant'Andrea delle Fratte and others) or can be collected by appointment. The TARI waste tax is paid to the municipality. Tap water, supplied by Umbra Acque, is drinkable and fairly hard.
- Markets: the Mercato Coperto in piazza Matteotti (food, with the terrace over the valley), the Saturday weekly market at Pian di Massiano (the largest, clothing and food), small district markets in the villages, a monthly antiques market in the centre.
- Shopping: Corso Vannucci and via dei Priori for shops and bookshops, via Baglioni and piazza Matteotti for chains; the Collestrada shopping centre at Ponte San Giovanni, Gherlinda and Quasar Village in Corciano.
- Libraries: the Biblioteca Augusta (via delle Prome, the historic civic library with study rooms), San Matteo degli Armeni in Corso Garibaldi with its garden, the Sandro Penna library in San Sisto, Villa Urbani and the village libraries; university libraries open to enrolled students.
- Paperwork: GP registration with USL Umbria 1, ZTL and resident parking permits at the municipality, electricity and gas with national suppliers and Umbra Acque for water.
