Food
Perugian cooking is of the land: torta al testo flatbread filled with sausage and greens, strangozzi and umbricelli pasta with truffle or ragù, porchetta, norcineria (cured meats from Norcia), Castelluccio lentils, farro and legume soups, torciglione and the San Costanzo torcolo among the sweets, Baci Perugina; wines are Torgiano, Montefalco Sagrantino and Grechetto from the hills. The Mercato Coperto in piazza Matteotti, with its panoramic terrace, and the Saturday market at Pian di Massiano are the places to shop; pizza-by-the-slice shops and tortarie serve cheap meals to students.
