Work: employment rising, logistics expanding
In 2024 the employment rate in the province of Piacenza rose to 72.2% and unemployment fell to 5.3%. Among services, growth in employee jobs was driven mainly by transport and warehousing, the logistics sector.

Labour market
According to the regional employment agency's annual report, in 2024 the province of Piacenza had an employment rate (ages 15-64) of 72.2% (70.6% in 2023) and an unemployment rate of 5.3% (6.4% in 2023). Employee hirings totalled 62,507, broadly stable, with a net gain of 1,971 jobs.
Logistics and other sectors
The report says growth in other services was driven above all by transport and warehousing: in 2024 the sector recorded 10,380 hirings and a net gain of 480 jobs. Manufacturing and utilities (+400), trade, hotels and restaurants (+410) and construction (+265) also ended positive.
Job centres
In 2024, 5,036 people turned to the job centres (Centri per l'impiego) of the province of Piacenza, a figure similar to 2023.
