Housing: province-wide public-housing call and rent support

Public housing across the whole province is allocated through a single call that the Comune di Prato publishes at least every four years: the 2025 call closed on 7 January 2026 and the next is expected around 2029. Private tenants can apply each year for the city's rent grant. OMI rents and prices are in the data.

Public housing (ERP)

At least every four years the Comune di Prato publishes a province-wide call for the allocation of public housing (edilizia residenziale pubblica), valid for every municipality in the province, under Tuscan regional law no. 2 of 2019. The only way onto the ranking is to take part in the call, with a household ISEE no higher than 16,500 euros. The 2025 call closed on 7 January 2026; the provisional ranking was published on 4 September 2026, with appeals until 4 October 2026. The next call is expected around 2029. A freephone number answers questions.

Renting privately

For tenants the Comune opens a call every year for grants towards rent, reserved for residents with a regular lease who meet ISE and ISEE requirements; the 2026 application is made online by 30 October 2026. In the same Housing section the Comune also lists grants to prevent evictions for arrears through no fault of the tenant, and the housing-suitability certificate required of non-EU citizens.
