Daily life: the Comune, waste, water, libraries, help desks
Municipal services go through Roma Capitale's portal and the offices of your municipio; the registry works by appointment. AMA manages waste with rules that vary by zone. Tap water is drinkable and the "nasoni" fountains give free water in the street. Network of municipal libraries, Informagiovani and orientation desks for newcomers.

City hall and municipio
Residence registration, electronic ID card, certificates and civil status are handled in your municipio of residence, by appointment booked on Roma Capitale's portal (the "Casa digitale del cittadino" area, with SPID or CIE login) or through the single number 060606. Waiting times for the ID card vary a lot between municipi: it pays to check availability in all fifteen. Many certificates can be downloaded online without an appointment. For reports (potholes, waste, lighting) the city has a single reporting system on the portal and in the app.
Waste and water
AMA S.p.A. runs collection: in the historic centre door-to-door collection with a calendar by type prevails, while most districts use sorted street bins (paper, plastic and metals, glass, organic, residual). Rules depend on the street: AMA's website shows the system in force for each address and the drop-off centres for bulky and electronic waste. The waste tax (TARI) is paid to Roma Capitale.
Water is supplied by ACEA and is drinkable; the public cast-iron fountains called "nasoni", found all over the city, give free, constantly running water.
Shopping
Every district has a neighbourhood market (mornings, Monday to Saturday) and chain supermarkets; the centre has few large supermarkets and higher prices. Shopping streets: via del Corso and the Tridente for chains and luxury, via Cola di Rienzo in Prati, via Appia Nuova and viale Marconi for neighbourhood shopping; shopping malls are outside the centre (Euroma2, Porta di Roma, Roma Est). Night-duty pharmacies are listed by the city and the pharmacists' association.
Libraries and orientation
Biblioteche di Roma is the municipal library system: dozens of neighbourhood branches with free lending, study rooms, wi-fi and children's activities; membership is free for residents and domiciled people. Informagiovani Roma Capitale gives guidance on study, work, volunteering and European opportunities. The municipi have social-services desks; for foreign citizens Roma Capitale and partner associations run orientation desks on permits, housing and Italian language, and the provincial adult-education centres (CPIA) offer free Italian courses.
