Health care: ASL Taranto, single district and the central hospital
The municipality of Taranto is the single district of ASL Taranto, based at via Giuseppe Scotti. The city hospital is the Presidio Ospedaliero Centrale (SS. Annunziata) in via Bruno; in nearby Statte the ASL runs the Moscati hospital. From 1 October 2026 prescriptions carry booking deadlines tied to their priority class.

Who covers the city
The municipality of Taranto alone makes up the single district (Distretto Unico) of ASL Taranto, based at via Giuseppe Scotti (tel. 099 7786546 and 099 7786988): it is the reference point for residents' outpatient clinics, family-advice centres and health and administrative offices. The ASL's headquarters are at viale Virgilio 31.
Hospitals and emergency department
The city hospital is the Presidio Ospedaliero Centrale (SS. Annunziata site), in via Bruno (switchboard 099 4585111, public-relations line 800 529657). In the nearby town of Statte, on the road to Martina Franca, the ASL runs the San Giuseppe Moscati hospital; the Occidentale, Orientale, Valle d'Itria and San Marco hospitals complete the network outside the capital. Bookings
ASL Taranto's CUP is the centralised system managing the whole offer (public service, accredited providers and private practice within the public system). From 1 October 2026, prescriptions for specialist visits and tests carry a booking deadline that depends on the priority class set by the doctor, counted from the issue date: book promptly after the prescription. The regional channels (Puglia Salute portal and app) also apply.
