Tourism: the port city, the August feasts and the Coral Routes

The municipal source presents Trapani as a seaside city born around its port, with Phoenician, Arab and Norman traces, and a calendar of patron-saint feasts in August. The municipality takes part in the "Rotte del Corallo" project (six cities, three nations); Birgi airport serves western Sicily.

  • A port's history: the municipality traces the city's history from its Phoenician foundation to Arab and Norman rule, with the salt works and tuna fisheries that shaped its economy.
  • August feasts: Sant'Alberto (6-7 August) and the Madonna di Trapani (16 August), with processions along the streets of the centre and a sea procession with fishing boats.
  • Coral Routes: the municipality promotes an itinerary among "six cities, three nations" tied to the Mediterranean red coral (news of December 2025).
  • Local products: the municipal portal points to the register of De.C.O. products "Trapani Western Sicily" and to the West of Sicily tourism portal.

Information

The municipality runs an info point at the tourist office, with summer opening also at weekends (notice of 2024), and applies the tourist tax. Those arriving by air find Trapani-Birgi airport, with flights to the islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria.
