Piazza Verdi and the Teatro dell'Unione

According to Italia.it, until the mid-19th century the square was the Vico Squarano, a tangle of working-class houses. The Comune wanted to give the city a modern theatre: the works, directed by the architect Virginio Vespignani, turned the lane into an arcaded avenue and the Teatro dell'Unione opened in 1868. Today the square hosts cultural events, including the summer series «Piazze di Cinema» and the FAI spring days.

Recurring events
