Student support and housing
DiSCo Lazio (the regional agency for the right to education and the promotion of knowledge) issues annual calls for grants, housing places and canteen services for students of all Lazio universities, state and recognised non-state; rankings depend on the university ISEE means test and credits, and beds in Roman residences fall far short of demand. Finding a room in Rome is the main problem for newcomers: the university districts (San Lorenzo, Tiburtina, Garbatella, Tor Vergata) have high rents and often irregular contracts.
International students
English-taught programmes are plentiful at Sapienza, Tor Vergata, LUISS and at the international and American universities in Rome (John Cabot, American University of Rome, Temple Rome). The Ministry's Universitaly portal gathers courses, requirements and the pre-enrolment procedure for non-EU students, which then goes through the consulates for the study visa.
