ULSS and Azienda Zero
In 2017 Veneto reorganised its health authorities into nine ULSS (Local Socio-Health Units) with geographic names: Dolomiti (Belluno), Marca Trevigiana, Serenissima (Venice), Veneto Orientale, Polesana (Rovigo), Euganea (Padua), Pedemontana (Bassano-Thiene), Berica (Vicenza), Scaligera (Verona). Added to these are the University Hospital Trusts of Padua and Verona, the Veneto Oncology Institute and Azienda Zero, which centralises procurement, recruitment, the 118 emergency service, screening and the Electronic Health Record. GP choice is made at the ULSS of residence or online.
Bookings, health record, co-payments
Bookings go through the booking centres of each ULSS (phone and desks), pharmacies and the regional Sanità km zero app, which also handles e-prescriptions, reports and co-payment; the Electronic Health Record is accessed with SPID/CIE. The Region has its own co-payment exemptions in addition to national ones, and has set an additional charge for outpatient services and non-urgent emergency room visits: check them each year.
Mountains
In the Belluno area and the pre-Alps mountain rescue is carried out by the Veneto Alpine and Cave Rescue with helicopter rescue from the ULSS Dolomiti and Pedemontana: call 112. Veneto charges a fee for helicopter rescues of uninjured people or in non-medical situations: skiers and hikers should carry insurance.
