Sectors and districts
Veneto has a structure of small and medium family firms with strong demand for technicians and skilled workers: engineering and heating technology (Padua, Vicenza, Treviso), eyewear (Belluno-Agordo), footwear (Montebelluna, Riviera del Brenta), goldsmithing (Vicenza), furniture (Livenza, Quartier del Piave), household appliances (Treviso), textiles and clothing, tanning (Arzignano), wine. Verona is a logistics (Quadrante Europa freight village) and trade-fair hub; Padua has services, health care and university; Venice tourism, port and cruises.
Seasonal work
Seasonal work is widespread: the Adriatic coast (Jesolo, Bibione, Caorle, Sottomarina, Rosolina) hires from Easter to September, the Dolomites and Garda from December to March and June to September, Venice all year with peaks at Carnival and in summer. Agriculture needs labour for the grape harvest (September), fruit and vegetable picking (Verona and Rovigo areas) and radicchio. There are no significant cross-border commuter flows.
Employment services
Veneto Lavoro, the Region's agency, runs the job centres, the ClicLavoro Veneto portal for vacancies and availability declarations, and the Labour Market Observatory that publishes monthly hiring data. The Region funds training and outplacement programmes (GOL, Assegno per il lavoro) through accredited providers.
