Earthquakes
In the Civil Protection Department's seismic classification of municipalities, updated in May 2025, the Comune di Arezzo is in zone 2, where strong earthquakes can occur. The Department notes that today the zone mainly serves planning and land control.
Floods and landslides
The Comune's page on ISPRA's IdroGEO platform, with the indicators of the ISPRA 2024 report on hydrogeological instability, estimates 15,998 residents (16.3%) in areas flooded under the medium-hazard scenario and 1,539 (1.6%) in high or very high landslide-hazard areas. The same platform shows the risk areas on a map, useful for checking a street before choosing a home.
Air, water and soil
According to ARPAT's 2025 Yearbook, in 2024 the AR-Acropoli (urban background) and AR-Repubblica (traffic) stations recorded 6 and 13 days above the daily PM10 threshold of 50 µg/m³, against the 35 allowed in a year; nitrogen dioxide stayed below the annual limit. The Arezzo stretch of the Arno is in sufficient ecological status for 2022–2024. The same yearbook counts 136 sites under remediation procedures in the municipality, warning that the data may not be complete.
