Tram

TEB's tram line starts at Bergamo FS station and runs up the Val Seriana to Albino with 16 stops, including Borgo Palazzo, Redona, Torre Boldone, Ranica, Alzano and Nembro. The second line, T2 Bergamo–Villa d'Almè, is being prepared: in September 2026 TEB showed the new T2 trams.

Funicular and airport

The funicular links the lower city with piazza Mercato delle Scarpe in Città Alta: over 240 metres it climbs 85 metres, at a 52% gradient; the first design was by engineer Alessandro Ferretti (1887). Milan Bergamo airport, run by SACBO at Orio al Serio, is reached by train to Bergamo station and then by ATB bus, which takes about ten minutes; the airport reports a connection with the station every 15 minutes.

  • ZTL: Centro storico di Città Alta, Città Alta e Colli and Valverde are restricted traffic zones; residents hold CA1 and CL permits. For an occasional transit the plate number is notified to the Comune.
  • Evening workers: from 19 October 2026 employees of bars, restaurants and accommodation in the ZTLs whose shifts end after the last public-transport run may park only in the yellow bays of the new LS zone (for example via della Fara, via Sudorno, part of via Borgo Canale), with an annual permit issued by ATB.
  • Deliveries: since 3 August 2026 new rules apply to goods deliveries in Città Alta; newspapers, fresh milk, fresh pastry and laundries may enter every day.
  • Planning: the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan was approved by the city council on 5 July 2022.
