Metro, buses and sharing
Brescia's metro is an automatic light line, with driverless, bidirectional trains, crossing the city from north to south-east; it has been in service since 2013. At peak times a train runs about every 90 seconds, in the evening and on holidays the wait is 4–10 minutes; each train has three articulated cars for over 300 passengers. Brescia Mobilità, the "Metropolitan Mobility Company", also runs the urban bus lines (2 to 27, plus lines in Desenzano and Concesio), parking in Brescia and other municipalities of the province, the Bicimia bike sharing, now also with e-bikes (e-Bicimia), and an e-scooter service.
The tram
On 18 June 2025 the contract was signed for the detailed design, works and rolling stock of the electric tram line T2 Fiera–Pendolina, awarded to a group led by Manelli Impresa with Alstom and Hitachi Rail; the goal is opening in 2030. For a second line, T3 Badia/Violino–Sant'Eufemia/Mille Miglia, the funding application to the Ministry has been approved.
ZTL
The historic centre is a limited traffic zone with 24 camera-monitored gates that read number plates: 14 always active, 9 from 8:00 to 20:00 and the Contrada del Cavalletto gate from 8:00 to 16:00; each gate has a "ZTL active / not active" panel. The Musei and Centro storico area is a mainly pedestrian ZTL, in force 24 hours a day. Anyone whose car has broken down or been stolen may enter with a substitute vehicle for up to 15 days, sending a self-declaration within 48 hours of the first passage. Permits and the gate map are on the Brescia Mobilità website.
