Health: AUSL Ferrara, the Sant'Anna in Cona and the CAU at Cittadella San Rocco

Local services in the city belong to the AUSL of Ferrara, while the city's hospital is the Sant'Anna Arcispedale of the University Hospital Trust, in Cona (via Aldo Moro 8), with the province's reference emergency room. For non-serious urgencies the CAU is in the centre, at the Cittadella San Rocco Casa della Comunità (corso Giovecca 199), open 24 hours a day.

Who covers the city

The Azienda USL di Ferrara (based at via Cassoli 30) runs local services and the province's acute hospitals in Argenta (Mazzolani Vandini), Cento (SS. Annunziata) and Lagosanto (Delta Hospital); the city's hospital is instead the Sant'Anna Arcispedale of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Ferrara. The former Sant'Anna complex in the centre, the Cittadella San Rocco, remains the main outpatient site in the city.

Hospital and emergency room

The Sant'Anna Arcispedale is in Cona, at via Aldo Moro 8, a few kilometres outside the centre (switchboard 0532 236111). The Emergency Room, with its short-stay observation unit, is in sector 3, building D, floor 0; live access status is published at ferrarasalute.it/ps-triage. In an emergency call 112.

CAU: low-complexity urgent care

Ferrara's Assistance and Urgency Centre is at the Cittadella San Rocco Casa della Comunità, corso Giovecca 199 (sector 19, ground floor), open 24 hours a day: for urgent but non-serious problems it avoids the trip to the Cona emergency room. Other CAUs in the province are in Comacchio, Copparo, Portomaggiore and Bondeno.

Opening hours, locations, numbers and access rules change: check your health authority's website before acting.
