History
Foggia's university grew out of the University of Bari: in 1986 a student office opened in the city, in 1989 a decree set up Foggia branches of Bari's faculties of Agriculture, Economics and Commerce, and Law, and the first lecture was held on 15 November 1990. The University of Foggia was formally born with the ministerial decree of 5 August 1999; its first rector was Antonio Muscio.
