In the city

Foggia's historic centre has largely survived despite the 1731 earthquake and the Second World War bombings. The most important monument is the cathedral, built in the 12th century and altered several times, which keeps much of its Romanesque façades. Beneath the centre lies a long series of underground spaces: the most important is the San Domenico hypogeum.

Surroundings

About 12 km from the city, the Bosco dell'Incoronata regional nature park protects an area with birds, deer, wild boar and reptiles along the Cervaro valley, with the sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Incoronata. Ferrovie del Gargano trains reach Lucera and, on the Peschici line, the Gargano; timetables change during the year and are published on the company's website.
