Daily life: registering residence at the registry counter and a single card for the civic libraries

In La Spezia a change of residence or address is registered by appointment at a registry counter, with the ministry form signed by all adults; the service is free. A free card, valid for one year, gives access to lending in all civic libraries of the urban library system.

Moving your residence or changing address

  1. Book

Appointments are booked on the Comune's website; the registry office (Anagrafe) is at piazza Europa 1. The service applies to Italian, EU and non-EU citizens.

  2. Prepare the form

The ministry declaration form must be signed by all adult members of the household, with copies of their identity documents; EU and non-EU citizens attach documents proving lawful residence. Give the exact address with street number and flat number, the right to occupy the home, and whether you hold a driving licence and own vehicles.

  3. Go to the counter

Bring your identity document to one of the registry counters. The service is free and has no deadline.

Other registry services

The portal's registry and civil status section covers the electronic identity card, registry and historical certificates, certified copies and signature authentication, and the permanent residence certificate for EU citizens. The home page links to the Comune's online registry services and to certificates from the national registry (ANPR).

Civic libraries

Lending is open to residents of the municipalities of the province of La Spezia and of fourteen municipalities of nearby Lunigiana, including Aulla, Fivizzano and Pontremoli, and to people who are domiciled or work there. You need a card, free of charge, issued on the spot, valid for one year and accepted in all libraries of the urban library system: you can borrow two printed books for 30 days and two e-books for 14 days on the MediaLibraryOnLine platform. The libraries also offer interlibrary loan, an internet point, wi-fi, self-service loans and a children's library.

Waste

The Environment section of the municipal services covers permits (discharges, noise exemptions, emissions), land remediation and removal of abandoned waste; the collection operator and calendars are not given on that page and should be checked with the Comune.
