Municipality
The Comune di Livorno's registry office, at piazza del Municipio 1, issues the electronic identity card and receives change-of-residence declarations, with a dedicated procedure for foreign citizens of Italian descent (iure sanguinis); appointments are booked from the "Prenota un appuntamento" page of the municipal website. Permits for ZTL and controlled-parking zones are requested online with SPID or CIE.
- Mercato Centrale (Mercato delle Vettovaglie): a late nineteenth-century covered market designed by Angiolo Badaloni on the model of Paris's Les Halles, along the Fosso Reale; local fish, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese, pulses and spices.
- Piazza Cavallotti market: open-air stalls with fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, olives and seasonal produce.
- Via Grande: just over 800 metres between the Four Moors and piazza della Repubblica, with chain stores for clothing and shoes.
- American market: on via della Cinta Esterna, behind the Venezia, born after the war; today sportswear, military and camping gear, perfumes and jeans.
- Municipal library: on the second floor of the Bottini dell'Olio, with open shelves and study seats.
