Daily life: municipalità, ASIA, ABC water, shopping, libraries

Registry and certificates are handled in your municipalità of residence or online with SPID/CIE on the Comune's portal. ASIA Napoli manages waste with door-to-door collection in many districts and street bins elsewhere. Water is public (ABC) and drinkable. Shopping happens in markets and neighbourhood shops; municipal libraries and the National Library offer study rooms.

City hall and municipalità

Residence, electronic ID card and certificates are requested at the registry offices of the ten municipalità, by appointment from the Comune di Napoli portal with SPID or CIE login; many certificates can be downloaded online. ID card waiting times vary by municipalità. The Comune publishes notices, calls (housing, nurseries, subsidies) and the fault-reporting system on its portal.

Waste and water

ASIA Napoli collects waste: in many districts (Vomero, Chiaia, Posillipo, parts of the centre and outskirts) door-to-door collection with a calendar by fraction is in place, elsewhere sorted street bins remain; ASIA's website shows the system for each street, the drop-off centres and bulky-waste pickup by booking. Leaving waste out of hours is fined.

Water is managed by ABC – Acqua Bene Comune, a wholly public special company of the Comune: it comes largely from the Serino springs and is drinkable; analyses are published on the website.

Shopping

Daily shopping is done in neighbourhood markets (Pignasecca, Antignano, Porta Nolana, Sant'Antonio Abate) and in small local shops, still very widespread; chain supermarkets exist but are less dominant than elsewhere. Shopping streets: via Toledo and via Chiaia for chains, via dei Mille and via Filangieri for luxury, via Scarlatti in Vomero, corso Umberto and the Rettifilo for popular retail; shopping malls outside the city (Afragola, Marcianise, Giugliano).

Libraries and orientation

The Vittorio Emanuele III National Library, in the Royal Palace, is open to all with study rooms; the Comune has neighbourhood libraries and the municipal library; Federico II's university libraries are open to enrolled students. The municipalità have social-services desks; for foreign citizens municipal and third-sector desks deal with permits, housing and language, and the CPIA centres offer free Italian courses. The Comune's Informagiovani gives guidance on study and work.
