Who covers the city

The Azienda USL di Piacenza, based at via Antonio Anguissola 15, is organised in three socio-health districts: the Città di Piacenza District for the city, plus the Ponente and Levante districts for the rest of the province.

Hospital and emergency room

The Piacenza hospital consists of three connected buildings — the Nucleo antico (via Taverna 49), the Polichirurgico (Cantone del Cristo 40, reception open 24/7) and the Specialist Medicine pavilion — with a switchboard active 24 hours a day (0523.301111). The hospital's emergency room handles urgencies with nurse-led triage and priority codes; in an emergency call 112.

CAU: low-complexity urgent care

For urgent but non-serious problems (fever, minor trauma, superficial wounds, pain) the Piacenza CAU operates in the city, at the hospital: direct access without appointment, bringing your health card, open 7 days a week and normally 24 hours a day. The visit and basic blood tests are free for Emilia-Romagna residents; non-residents without a regional GP pay 20 euro for the visit. The other CAUs in the province are in Castel San Giovanni (Val Tidone), Fiorenzuola (Val d'Arda) and Bobbio.

Out-of-hours doctor

The out-of-hours service (ex guardia medica) continues the family doctor's work at night and on holidays and pre-holidays: access is by calling 0523.343000. The hours of the individual local sites are published on the AUSL website.

Opening hours, locations, numbers and access rules change: check your health authority's website before acting.
