Cost of living: IRPEF surcharge and local taxes
Reggio Calabria applies the municipal IRPEF surcharge at a single rate of 0.8%, confirmed every year under the 2019 resolution. Municipal IRPEF surcharge
According to the Department of Finance, since 2012 Reggio Calabria's municipal surcharge on IRPEF (personal income tax) has had a single rate of 0.8%, with no income brackets. For 2025 the confirmation of resolution no. 130 of 8 July 2019 applies and the table lists no exemption threshold; for 2026 the Department did not yet show any data.
Local taxes
TARI (waste tax), IMU (property tax) and the single property fee (canone unico patrimoniale) are handled by the Comune's Tax Department, at via S. Anna II tronco (Palazzo Ce.Dir.). Guides, payments and bookings go through the portal of Hermes Servizi Metropolitani, an in-house company of the Comune based at via Sbarre Inferiori 304/a: those who register with SPID or CIE can book appointments at the Hermes desks and, if their tax code matches the account holder's, view their bills. The service is free.
