The university
The University of Salerno grew out of the university Institute of Education (Magistero) set up in the city in 1944, which became a state institution in 1968 as the Faculty of Education of the University of Salerno. Today it is based on the Fisciano campus (via Giovanni Paolo II 132), which has a bus terminal; the Faculty of Medicine classrooms are on the Baronissi campus. The university links its history to that of the Salerno Medical School.
Residences and canteen
The university residences on the Fisciano campus, run by ADISURC, have 780 beds in total for students and staff; in Baronissi a building offers 86, 10 of them for students with disabilities, and Palazzo Barra in Lancusi di Fisciano has 21 small flats. The canteen, run directly by ADISURC, has its main facility on the Fisciano campus and is open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner; Medicine students use the canteen of the university hospital in Salerno.
International students
The international office manages Erasmus+ exchanges and incoming mobility, with pages in English, and a cultural and linguistic mediation service. Admission procedures differ for EU citizens, non-EU citizens resident in Italy and non-EU citizens abroad; the list of English-taught courses is in the «Offerta formativa in lingua inglese» section of the university website.
