Who covers the city

ATS Insubria lists the municipality of Varese among its member municipalities under the “Territorio di Varese”. ASST Sette Laghi is organised in districts: Varese is one of seven, with Arcisate, Azzate, Laveno Mombello, Luino, Sesto Calende and Tradate. The trust's hospitals are the Ospedale di Circolo and the Ospedale Filippo Del Ponte in Varese, and those of Tradate, Luino, Cittiglio and Angera.

Hospital and emergency room

The Ospedale di Circolo, at viale Borri 57 (switchboard 0332 278111), is described as the network's centre, of national importance and highly specialised, serving the central-northern area of the province. The emergency room is entered from via Guicciardini; at the triage entrance an Info Point is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00. Ward visitors are admitted from 12:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 19:00.

Family doctor

The family doctor or paediatrician is chosen through the Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico, which shows availability in real time, through the SIOC service, at the Scelta e Revoca counter (also by proxy) or at a pharmacy. In Varese the counter is at viale Monte Rosa 28, in the Casa di Comunità. Where no doctor is available in the area, the ASST points to Temporary Medical Clinics or to choosing a doctor outside the area; the page on temporary clinics is updated to 1 October 2026.

Bookings

The ASST's CUP desks in the city are at the Ospedale di Circolo (viale Borri 57), the Ospedale Del Ponte (via Del Ponte 19) and the Casa di Comunità at viale Monte Rosa 28.
