Opera in the Arena

The Arena di Verona Opera Festival is held in summer in the Roman amphitheatre: the 2027 edition, the 104th, runs from 11 June to 11 September. The Fondazione Arena recommends arriving at least an hour before the start (gates open two hours before). On the stone steps you can bring a cushion or buy one inside; a small backpack and a folding umbrella without a sharp tip are allowed, but not suitcases or bags over 17 litres, food, drinks, glass, plastic bottles over half a litre, cameras or tripods. There is no compulsory dress code, but elegant clothing is preferred in the stalls and men may not wear shorts, tank tops or flip-flops. If it rains the start can be delayed by up to 150 minutes; if the show is stopped after it has begun there is no refund, and tickets can be neither refunded nor exchanged.

VeronaCard and information

The VeronaCard is valid for 24 or 48 hours and is sold on the Verona DMO website; the IAT tourist office is at via Leoncino 61, in Palazzo Barbieri on Piazza Bra.
