Where it is and how it is run

Campo di Marte gives its name to Quartiere 2, one of the five Quartieri of the Comune di Firenze (Q1 Centro Storico, Q2 Campo di Marte, Q3 Gavinana-Galluzzo, Q4 Isolotto-Legnaia, Q5 Rifredi). Firenze Campo di Marte is one of the city's railway stations, with nine passenger tracks.

In 2026 Campo di Marte was named among the areas outside the historic centre to which the Comune extended the ban on opening new short-term tourist lets.

The stadium

The Artemio Franchi stadium, with structures designed by Pier Luigi Nervi, is the subject of a municipal redevelopment project: a new rectangular metal roof, new stands, restoration of the historic curved ends, and around it a large urban park in the Campo di Marte area, with a retail area and, along viale Paoli, offices and accommodation. The project document plans phased works over two football seasons, with the stadium in use at reduced capacity, and keeps existing facilities such as the Affrico sports club and the baseball field.
