Shopping and markets
The covered municipal market at piazzale Lagosta, which the Comune lists as the Zara market, has been relaunched in recent years and combines food stalls and eateries; it is the reference for fresh shopping. The quarter keeps a network of local shops (bakeries, butchers, hardware, laundries) on via Borsieri, via Thaon di Revel and via Pepe, and medium-sized supermarkets towards via Farini and viale Zara. The official list of weekly street markets, with streets and days for Municipio 9, is in the Comune document cited.
Green space and libraries
BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi is the everyday park: lawns, playground, paths, free events; it is open and walkable and links Isola to piazza Gae Aulenti and Garibaldi. Small gardens on via Confalonieri and via de Castillia; to the north the gardens of via Guglielmo Pepe and, beyond viale Zara, the Parco della Martesana. The municipal library is Zara (viale Zara 100), with a study room.
Health, schools, services
Health: ATS Città Metropolitana di Milano for GP registration and services; the nearest hospital is the Fatebenefratelli (corso di Porta Nuova), while Niguarda, the large hospital of Municipio 9, is reached by M5. Schools: state nursery, primary and middle schools in the quarter (the Confalonieri on via Dal Verme is Isola's historic one); catchment enrolment on the Comune website. Municipio 9 has its offices and citizen services on via Guerzoni, a little to the north.
