Statute and language

Campania is a region with an ordinary statute. The only community protected under law 482/1999 is the Arbëreshë (Albanian) community of Greci, in the province of Avellino. The Neapolitan language, with its provincial variants, is used daily by much of the population and has a centuries-old literary, theatrical and musical tradition, but it is not among the historical minorities recognised by the State; the Region has declared it heritage to be protected under a regional law. The art of the Neapolitan pizzaiuolo has been UNESCO intangible heritage since 2017.
