Rail

Regional rail is operated by Trenitalia Tper, a company of Trenitalia and Tper, with regular-interval trains along the Via Emilia (Piacenza–Bologna–Rimini), to Ferrara, Ravenna, Porretta, Vignola, Suzzara and the Brenner; at Bologna Centrale the high-speed lines to Milan, Florence-Rome, Venice and the Adriatic line meet. The smaller former concession lines (Parma–Suzzara, Reggio–Guastalla, Bologna–Portomaggiore) have been integrated into the regional network.

Mi Muovo and buses

Mi Muovo is the regional integrated fare system: a single zone-based card onto which passes valid on trains and buses of several basins are loaded (Tper in Bologna and Ferrara, Seta in Modena, Reggio and Piacenza, TEP in Parma, Start Romagna in Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini). Mi Muovo in bici and bike sharing complete the offer. Annual regional rail pass holders travel free on urban buses in their origin and destination cities.

Airports, passes, cycling

Bologna airport (BLQ, Marconi) is the main one, linked to the central station by the Marconi Express monorail in about seven minutes; Rimini (RMI), Parma (PMF) and Forlì (FRL) have few flights. Towards Tuscany the Apennine passes (Cisa, Abetone, Futa, Raticosa, Mandrioli) stay open but may close for snow; the A1 Direttissima and the high-speed line in tunnel are the main routes. Cycle routes: Ciclovia del Sole on the former Bologna–Verona railway (Mirandola–Osteria Nuova section), VENTO and Destra Po along the river, the Ferrara network (one of Italy's most cycle-friendly cities) and the Riviera cycle path.
