Rail
The Trenitalia regional network links Florence with Pisa, Livorno, Lucca, Viareggio, Prato-Pistoia, Arezzo, Siena, Empoli and Grosseto on a regular-interval timetable (Memorario); high-speed trains stop at Florence Santa Maria Novella (Milan, Bologna, Rome, Naples) and the Tyrrhenian Intercity line serves Pisa, Livorno and Grosseto. Siena and Grosseto have slower connections. The Faentina line (Florence–Borgo San Lorenzo–Faenza) crosses the Mugello.
Buses and Florence
Since November 2021 all regional bus transport, urban and suburban, has been entrusted to a single operator, Autolinee Toscane, with a zone-based fare system covering the whole region and contactless tickets on board; in Florence tickets are integrated with the tram (lines T1 and T2, with extensions under construction). Integrated train+bus passes (Pegaso) exist for commuters. Florence has a very extensive limited-traffic zone and the Scudo Verde camera-controlled perimeter.
