Work: industry, farming and the job centre

Novara's economy grew in the 20th century on textiles, engineering, chemicals, printing and food, alongside rice and cereals. The job centre on via San Francesco d'Assisi works by appointment; since 2023 it has hosted a youth employment desk run with the Comune's Informagiovani.

Sectors

According to the Province, in the 20th century Novara developed an industrial economy in textiles, engineering, chemicals, printing and food, dairy above all. Agriculture produces rice, cereals and maize, and the city has a commodity exchange specialising in cereals, dairy products and hay.

Job centre

Novara's Centro per l'impiego (public job centre), coordinated by Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro, is at via San Francesco d'Assisi 12/A. It serves job seekers (active job search, certificates, local vacancies) and businesses (recruitment, advice on contribution relief, incentives and paperwork), and handles traineeships and targeted placement for people with disabilities. For information and appointments it is open Monday to Thursday morning and afternoon and Friday morning; bookings on the single number 011 0876000 or on the regional PiemonteTu platform.

In November 2023 the centre and the Comune opened an experimental youth employment desk in the same building: on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 13 staff from the municipal Informagiovani give information on study and training paths, CVs and job hunting.
