Climate and air: PM10 alerts and car-free Sundays
In the 2024/25 season, from October to April, the municipality applied by ordinance three PM10 alert levels, referenced to the ARPAV station at Mandria: limits on heating and biomass stoves, a ban on open burning. In the 2025/26 season seven ecological Sundays closed the historic centre to combustion-engine vehicles.

Winter measures
In the 2024/25 season ordinance no. 58 of 2024 applied across the whole municipality from 1 October to 30 April, every day. The orange level was triggered after at least four consecutive days of measured and forecast exceedance of the daily PM10 limit, red after at least ten; the level returned to green after two consecutive days within the limit. ARPAV bulletins were issued on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the reference station was Mandria.
The ordinance set maximum temperatures in buildings, lowered during alerts; it banned household biomass heaters rated below three stars (below four during alerts) where another system exists; it always prohibited burning plant residues and, during alerts, bonfires, barbecues, fireworks and slurry spreading.
Ecological Sundays
For the 2025/26 season ordinance no. 38 of 30 September 2025 set seven ecological Sundays, from 8.30 to 18.30: cars, vans, mopeds and motorcycles with combustion or hybrid engines may not circulate in the historic centre. Electric vehicles, public transport, taxis, residents entering or leaving their homes, hotel guests and other categories with a self-declaration remain exempt.
