Buses and trolleybus
Urban transport is run by TUA (Società Unica Abruzzese di Trasporto). As part of the reorganisation of urban services, line V1 "La Verde" was set up, a trolleybus between Pescara and Montesilvano running on a dedicated lane: tickets can be bought and validated on board by tapping a contactless bank card, a smartphone or a smartwatch, or bought in the TuaGO app and activated before boarding.
Airport and trains
The Pescara Air Link (TUA4FLY service) connects Abruzzo airport with the terminal beneath Pescara Centrale station, with runs throughout the day; the ticket, valid for 90 minutes in the Pescara-Chieti urban area, is bought in the app or on board by card, not cash, and timetables are not adjusted for flight delays. Pescara Centrale, in the centre, has direct trains to Milan, Bologna, Rome, Naples and Bari; by car the city is reached from the A14 and, from Rome, the A25, exit Pescara Ovest.
Cycling and walking
The Ponte del Mare, inaugurated on 8 December 2009 to a design by the Tyrolean architect Walter Pichler, is a 466-metre cycle and pedestrian bridge with separate branches for bikes and walkers, linking the seafront north to south, from the Rotonda della Madonnina to lungomare Papa Giovanni XXIII.
