Rail
Prato is served by two railway lines, Bologna–Florence and Florence–Lucca (continuing to Viareggio or Pisa), and has three stations: Prato Centrale, served by both lines, Prato Porta al Serraglio, the closest to the historic centre, and Prato Borgonuovo.
Buses
The urban network is run by Autolinee Toscane. In the city you travel on the "urbano capoluogo" ticket; on lines 4 and 5, which have mixed fares, the ticket to use depends on the section travelled. An extra-urban band 1 or 2 ticket starting or ending in Prato is also valid on the urban network. Timetables, notices and sales points are on the website and in the at bus app.
- Car: Prato is reached by the A1 Milan–Naples and the A11 Florence–coast motorways.
- Airports: Florence Vespucci is about half an hour's drive; Pisa Galilei and Bologna Marconi are less than an hour away.
- Bike: two long cycle paths run along both banks of the Bisenzio, used mainly for leisure; other stretches link the districts.
