District 1 Verona Città
Territorial care is run by the ULSS 9 Scaligera health authority, with registered offices at via della Valverde 42 in Verona. The city forms District 1 “Verona Città”, which runs primary care, integrated home care, palliative care, family counselling centres and child neuropsychiatry, disability and long-term care services, and the district's community health houses and community hospital.
The two university hospitals
The Integrated University Hospital Trust of Verona (switchboard 0458121111) is organised on two city sites: the Borgo Trento hospital at piazzale Aristide Stefani 1 and the Borgo Roma hospital at piazzale L.A. Scuro 10, near the university campuses. The admission and emergency department service operates at both sites.
Bookings
The ULSS 9 booking centre answers on 045 24552, Monday to Friday 8:00-18:00 and Saturday 8:00-13:00, for services with a prescription; the same number with extension 23 handles private (libera professione) activity.
Out-of-hours doctor
The out-of-hours service (ex guardia medica) complements GPs and paediatricians at night (20:00-8:00 every day), on Saturdays from 10:00 to 20:00, on pre-holidays from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Sundays and holidays from 8:00 to 20:00. Call 116117, by phone or before going to the reference site; the doctor can advise by phone, see you at the clinic or visit at home.
