Buses
According to Bologna Welcome, bus 20 links the centre with Casalecchio via via Saragozza; at the Villa Spada stop you can change to bus 58, which climbs to the sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca. The 58 runs infrequently: exact times are on the TPER website. The same ticket covers both buses, but it must be validated on each.
On foot under the portico
From Porta Saragozza you walk under cover beneath the portico to the Arco del Meloncello, built in 1732 to a design by Carlo Francesco Dotti, where the climb begins. From there the portico rises to the sanctuary, with fifteen chapels dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary; the route is part of the first stage of the Via degli Dei.
Tourist train
The San Luca Express, a tourist train with a multilingual audio guide, leaves from piazza Maggiore and climbs to the sanctuary.
