Shopping and markets
Shopping is done in the supermarkets on viale Sarca and viale Fulvio Testi and in the quarter's shopping centre (Bicocca Village, with a multiplex cinema), plus the cafés and university canteens also used by residents. The nearest weekly street markets of Municipio 9, with streets, days and hours, are in the official Comune list cited. Neighbourhood shops are lacking: commercial life is in the large formats and under the campus arcades.
Green space, culture and libraries
Parco Nord Milano, one of the big metropolitan parks, begins just beyond via Chiese and is reached on foot or from the Bignami terminus: meadows, woods, cycle paths to Sesto and Cinisello. Inside the quarter, the Collina dei Ciliegi and the campus gardens. Pirelli HangarBicocca (via Chiese 2) offers contemporary art exhibitions with free entry. The municipal library is Niguarda (via Passerini 5), two M5 stops away; the university library on piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo is open to enrolled students.
Health, schools, services
Health: ATS Città Metropolitana di Milano for GP registration and local services; Niguarda hospital, the largest in the northern area, is reached by M5 to Ca' Granda plus a short walk, or by bus. Schools: state nursery, primary and middle schools in Municipio 9 around the quarter (Niguarda, Ca' Granda, Greco); catchment enrolment on the Comune website. The Teatro degli Arcimboldi is among the city's main venues for concerts and musicals.
