Studying in Milan
Italy's largest university hub: Politecnico (engineering, architecture, design), Statale, Bicocca, Bocconi (economics, law, political science), Cattolica, IULM, San Raffaele and Humanitas for medicine, Brera and the Conservatory, plus the fashion and design schools. The English-taught offer is the widest in the country. Student support is managed by each university; housing is the main problem.

Universities

Student support, housing, districts
Lombardy has no single regional agency: each university directly manages scholarships, housing places and canteens through an annual call based on ISEE income and merit, funded by the Region. International students submit translated and legalised income documents; deadlines fall in summer. University residences cover a minority of demand and the search for a room should start months ahead.
Student districts follow the campuses: Città Studi and Lambrate (Politecnico Leonardo, Statale sciences), Bovisa and Dergano (Politecnico Bovisa), Bicocca and Precotto, Porta Romana and Porta Lodovica (Bocconi), Sant'Ambrogio and Magenta (Cattolica), Romolo and Navigli (IULM). Every university has a welcome desk for international students: the Statale's assists with visas, residence, housing and grants.
