Who covers the city

Naples is served by ASL Napoli 1 Centro, organised in ten primary health districts numbered from 24/73 to 33: the district is the entry point to community care (general practice, outpatient clinics, home and social-health care) for the residents of its area, and each district has a page with locations and services on the ASL portal.

ASL hospitals

Alongside the large autonomous hospital and university trusts described in the Campania entry, ASL Napoli 1 Centro directly runs five hospitals — Ospedale del Mare, San Giovanni Bosco, San Paolo, Santa Maria di Loreto Nuovo and Ospedale dei Pellegrini — plus the Barra and Capilupi hospital facilities.

Emergencies and first aid

For emergencies the 118 number is free and active around the clock. The ASL publishes the list of fixed first-aid posts (PSAUT) — at the San Gennaro hospital, open 24 hours a day, and in Pianura, via Campanile 156, open during the day — and of the ambulance stations serving the city's districts (among others: Vomero, Scampia, Miano, Chiatamone, Bagnoli, Pianura).

Bookings

Specialist visits and tests are booked through the single regional CUP: desks operate in all ASL facilities (health districts, hospitals, the Napoli Est intermediate facility, the Loreto Crispi and corso Vittorio Emanuele community-care sites), normally open Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 12.30, as well as in affiliated pharmacies and through one's family doctor. A prescription and the health card are required; online booking uses SPID, CIE or CNS on the Campania in Salute portal or app.

Opening hours, locations and rules change: check the ASL Napoli 1 Centro website or the Campania Region's Sinfonia portal.
