Overview
Where it is
Vanchiglia belongs to Circoscrizione 7, which the city calls "Aurora – Vanchiglia – Sassi Superga – Madonna del Pilone", with offices at corso Vercelli 15.
Turismo Torino points to piazzetta Santa Giulia as the symbol of the district, behind the church of Santa Giulia commissioned by Giulia Falletti di Barolo: the square hosts the local market and, in the evening, the nightlife. Among the most recognisable buildings is Casa Scaccabarozzi, designed by Alessandro Antonelli at the corner of corso San Maurizio, which the Turinese call the "Fetta di Polenta" (slice of polenta).
University sites
At via Sant'Ottavio 20 stands Palazzo Nuovo, the University of Turin's main site for the humanities: the School of Humanities and the departments of Philosophy and Educational Sciences, Humanities and Historical Studies. The university describes it as one of the first buildings in Turin made entirely of steel, criticised from the outset for how it was inserted into the historic fabric and renovated several times.
Along the Dora, in the former Italgas industrial area a short distance from the Mole, is the Campus Luigi Einaudi (Lungo Dora Siena 100), designed by Norman Foster: seven buildings set in greenery, housing the School of Law, Political and Economic-Social Sciences and the departments of Law, Economics and Statistics, and Culture, Politics and Society.

Living
- Cost of living
Turin is among the cheapest large Italian cities: rents and purchase prices are well below Milan, Rome, Florence and Bologna. Winter heating and, for drivers, parking and the ZTL weigh more. Outside the centre rents fall quickly.

EDISU Piemonte has three residences in the district and around the university sites: Olimpia next to Campus Einaudi, CXTURIN Vanchiglia along the Po and Giulia di Barolo near Palazzo Nuovo.
- Daily life
Local market and evening bars in piazzetta Santa Giulia; a university residence, an EDISU canteen and the Norberto Bobbio library at the Campus Einaudi; the Colletta park in the same circoscrizione, towards Barriera di Milano.

ItalySensitive - Transport
The circular tram 16 runs along corso Regina Margherita and corso San Maurizio, crosses piazza Vittorio Veneto and continues towards the Valentino and San Salvario. Campus Luigi Einaudi has parking for cars, motorbikes and bicycles; for routes the University refers to the Muoversi a Torino service.
- Health
The whole city falls under ASL Città di Torino (head office at via San Secondo 29), which runs four city hospitals; the Maria Vittoria hosts a DEA with an emergency department. - Climate & environment
Continental lowland climate at the foot of the Alps: cold, damp winters with fog and temperature inversions, hot summers. Turin - Culture & relationships
A country of strong local identities: dialects still spoken at home, cuisines and festivals that differ from region to region. Formality with 'Lei', rigid meal times, slow paper-based bureaucracy. Non-EU citizens with a long-stay permit sign an integration agreement with credits.
